Love, Scott, is an inspirational documentary about my dear friend, Scott Jones and the struggles that he has faced since an attack in 2013 that left him paralyzed from the waist down. I will never forget the day that I received this tragic news, it was utterly heartbreaking. However, his tenacity, maturity, bravery and growth are what has helped him and many others to overcome various obstacles in everyday life. This film explores memory, nostalgia and where there are still holes that exist within the Canadian justice system.
Anyone who knows Scott would agree that he is one of the most warm-hearted, caring, good humored and musically talented people on this planet.
“As we are moving through this unprecedented and challenging time, we hope that this film can provide some insight on the power of the human spirit to endure. We can do this, folks, and we can proceed with a sense of grace, a sense of surrender to the power of it all. We can feel it. Cry it. Shout it. Dance it. Sing it. Write it. Paint it. Film it. Go and find art and hear music (online) that move you to think about it in a different way. Seek out, don’t avoid, the ways that honour the pain and grief you may be experiencing.” (The production team)
I have finally had a chance to watch this documentary directed by Laura Marie Wayne produced by Annette Clarke and accompanied by beautiful music from the composer Sigur Rós. This film was released a little over a year ago and is currently available on Amazon prime and CBC Gem (for free!) as apart of their Hot Docs Curated collection. Enjoy!
